# Why don't Analytics totals match my statement?

> The four reasons the same royalties add up differently in the two places.

Both are built from the same published sales, so for one period the royalties should agree. When they don't, it's usually one of four things.

**A filter is on.** Analytics keeps your filters when you switch tabs, so a track or store you selected earlier is still narrowing the totals. Clear them all and compare again.

**You're comparing the wrong figures.** A statement's closing balance is a balance: it carries in what you were owed before and takes off costs, advances and payments. Analytics has none of that. Compare against **Total Royalties** on the statement, not the closing balance.

**The period isn't selected.** With no **Period** filter, Analytics covers every published period at once. Select the single period your statement covers.

**The list is cut off.** Each tab shows 25 rows, so adding up what's on screen gives less than the total. The **% of Total** figures come from everything matching your filters, not just the visible rows.

One real difference is worth knowing: Analytics ranks by net sales, while a statement's top-performer lists rank by royalty. The same ten tracks can come out in a different order in the two places without either being wrong.
