# What is the Payable balance?

> The figure at the top of your dashboard, and why it differs from the closing balance on your statement.

**Payable balance** is what you're owed right now. It's the first figure on your dashboard.

It moves as your record company publishes statements and records payments, so it's a live number rather than a fixed one.

## Why it differs from your statement

Your statement shows a **Closing balance**, which is what you were owed at the end of that accounting period. The payable balance is today's figure and includes anything that has happened since. If your record company has paid you since the period closed, the payable balance is lower.

## If you see more than one amount

Each currency is shown on its own line. Currencies aren't added together, so a payee earning in both EUR and USD sees two figures, each with what's owed in that currency.

A dash means there's nothing outstanding to show yet.
