# What's in the Sales CSV and Costs CSV?

> The columns behind a statement, and why yours may differ.

The CSVs are the detail behind the statement figures: one row per sales line, and one row per cost.

Your record company chooses which columns appear and can rename the headings, so your files won't necessarily match another artist's. The lists below are the standard set.

## Sales CSV

Each row is one sale from one sales file, for one of your contracts.

**Where and when.** Sale date, transaction date, source, store, territory, sale type, format type, price category.

**What sold.** Release catalogue number, barcode, title, artist, variant and label; track ISRC, title, artist, variant and label. Publishing statements carry work title, ISWC and tunecode instead.

**How much.** Units, gross amount, net amount, unit price, retail price and PPD, in the currency the store reported, then the same amounts converted into your contract's currency with the exchange rate used.

**Your deal.** Contract, account and payee names and IDs, participation rate, calculation type, royalty rate, effective royalty rate, and the resulting royalty.

The effective royalty rate is the one worth checking: it's what actually applied to the row after your participation and any escalation, so it explains a rate that isn't the headline one in your deal.

## Costs CSV

Cost type, cost name, date, invoice number and description; the release and track it relates to; the amount in its original currency and converted; and the participation and allocation rates that produced the allocated cost.

**Allocated cost** is the figure that reaches your statement. The amount beside it is the full cost before your share was applied.
