# Can I sort or export the ledger?

> Which columns sort, and what you can take away from the table.

## Sorting

Click a column header with an arrow to sort by it. **Name**, **Period**, **Opening**, **Costs**, **Earnings** and **Closing** sort; **Payments**, **Other** and the three **Transfers** columns don't.

Sorting by Closing is the quickest way to find where a balance sits when you have several contracts, and sorting by Earnings shows which deal did the work in a period.

## Exporting

There's no export of the table itself. What you can take away are the statement files behind it: tick the rows you want, click **Options**, and choose **Statement PDFs**, **Sales CSVs** or **Costs CSVs**.

The Sales CSV is the one to use for your own analysis. It carries every sales line with the contract, account and payee named on each row, so you can rebuild any view the ledger gives you, and more, in a spreadsheet.
