# Is the statement PDF an invoice?

> What the PDF is for, and who raises the invoice behind a payment.

No. The statement PDF is a statement: it shows what you earned, what was deducted and what you're owed. It carries your record company's name, address, company number and VAT number, and your own name and address, which is what your accountant usually needs from it, but it doesn't ask anyone to pay.

## Who raises the invoice

That depends on the billing arrangement your record company has set for you. Either you send them an invoice, or they raise one on your behalf as a self-bill. The statement email is a quick tell: if it asks you to invoice and gives their address and VAT number, you're the one invoicing.

See [Do I need to send an invoice to get paid?](/artists/payments/sending-an-invoice) for all three arrangements and what happens to tax.

## Keep your own details current

When your record company invoices on your behalf, the invoice is raised from the details held for you: address, VAT number, tax rate and bank details. Click your name in the top-right corner and choose **Billing Information** to check them.
