# What are Transactions?

> The manual entries your record company adds to a statement, and where to see them listed.

**Transactions** are entries your record company adds by hand, rather than amounts Qlero calculated from sales. An advance is the most common one.

When a statement has any, they're listed in a **Transactions** table under the balance cards, with each entry's name, type and amount, and a total at the bottom. If your record company hasn't added any, the table isn't shown.

## The types you'll see

**Advance.** Money paid to you ahead of earnings, recouped from what you earn later. Always negative.

**Royalty.** A royalty your record company entered manually, rather than one calculated from a sales file. Used for income that doesn't arrive as sales data, such as a licensing deal.

**Reserve Withheld.** An amount held back against future returns. Negative.

**Reserve Released.** A held-back amount given back to you. Positive.

**Other.** Anything that doesn't fit the types above. The name your record company typed tells you what it is.

Payments aren't listed here. They have their own card and their own page.

The name is the only description you get, so if an entry isn't clear, ask your record company what it covers. They can see the full entry, including the date it was booked.
