# Account glossary

An Account represents a subdivision within a Payee, used to group Contracts under a shared balance. Accounts make it possible to track recoupment and payouts at a more granular level than the Payee.

## Fields

**Name** - The name of the account. Must be unique within its parent Payee.

**Account Code** - An optional external code identifier for the account.

**Payee** - A reference to the parent Payee that owns this account.

**Cross Recoupable** - Indicates whether contracts under this account participate in cross-recoupment with each other.

**Threshold** - An optional threshold amount used in payout calculations at the account level.

**Notes** - Internal notes.
