Yes, and it isn’t optional. Every Qlero account uses an authenticator app as a second step. There’s no way to switch it off, and codes by text message aren’t supported.
An authenticator app generates a six-digit code that changes every few seconds. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy and 1Password all work, so use one you already have.
Setting it up
Qlero prompts you the first time you sign in, before you reach your dashboard, and you can’t postpone it. Install an app on your phone first, then scan the QR code Qlero shows and type the six-digit code your app generates.
After that, every sign-in asks for the current code once you’ve entered your password or email login code.
If you lose your authenticator app
Contact Qlero support at support@qlero.io. This covers a new phone, a lost or stolen phone, and an app you deleted.
Your record company can’t help with this and neither can you: only Qlero can reset it, and support confirms you’re the account holder first. Write from the address you sign in with and say which record company and payee you have access to. You’ll set the app up again at your next sign-in.
Until it’s reset you can’t sign in at all, so get in touch as soon as you notice.
Changing phone is the most common way people get locked out. Set Qlero up on the new phone before you wipe the old one, or turn on your authenticator app’s cloud backup.
