Alternate name is a second name your record company has registered for you. It’s usually the other half of the pair that a deal involves: your artist name against the company or legal name that gets paid, or the other way round. It appears under the name at the top of your statement, as Alternate name: Nora Lane. When you’re looking at an account or a contract, the line names your payee too, so you can tell which payee the deal belongs to. If there’s no line at all, your record company hasn’t given you one. Nothing is missing from the statement because of it.

Changing it

You can’t change it yourself. Both names sit with your record company, so ask them to correct it. The same is true of the name on the statement and the address on the PDF.
