Transferred from Accounts is the money that moved up into your payee balance during the period. For most artists it’s the largest figure on the statement, because it’s how royalties reach the balance you get paid from. Earnings don’t land on your payee balance directly. They arrive in three steps:
  1. Each contract earns royalties from the period’s sales, and its costs are deducted there.
  2. What’s left on a contract transfers up to the account it belongs to.
  3. What’s left on the account transfers up to you, the payee.
Each step only transfers what’s actually available. A contract that’s still unrecouped, where costs and advances are larger than its royalties, transfers nothing and carries its negative balance into the next period instead. That’s why a period with real royalties can show a small Transferred from Accounts, or none at all. Your record company can also set a threshold on a contract or account, so small balances stay put and transfer once they’re worth moving.
